Safety & Security Officer

The Safety and Security Officer will perform a variety of security and safety related functions while involved in the safeguarding of employees, visitors and property.
You will operate under the highest standards of professionalism. You will be expected to follow all applicable laws and regulations, and all company policies, procedures, and practices as they apply to security, verification, and inventory plans.
Responsible for the enforcement and oversight of the company’s safety and security program.
They will assume the responsibility on the remediation of any product related accidents.
Responsible for creating and providing incident and status reports to senior management.
Patrol and monitor premises, on foot and motorized conveyance, to provide incident prevention and detect signs of criminal or suspicious activity.
Communicate effectively and respectfully with members of the community, supervisors and peers.
Respond promptly to, investigate, and properly document calls for service in accordance with applicable policies and procedures, including but not limited to:
Assisting with customers.
Emergency medical assistance.
Deescalate difficult situations by remaining calm, being empathetic and maintaining impulse control.
Operate detection and electronic monitoring devices to screen individuals, areas and property and prevent passage of prohibited articles or persons into restricted areas.
Ensure compliance with company policies, including parking rules and regulations and perform appropriate enforcement action.
Observe and report hazardous or unusual conditions.
Work with Human Resources in the development of training for employees around subject of safety.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
All other functions as designated by Senior Management (where applicable).

Skills & Qualifications
You are at least 21 years of age.
You have a valid Security Guard Card from the California Department of Consumer Affairs.
All required certifications for a California Security Guard working in the facility’s municipality.
Customer Focus, teamwork, creative problem solving, continuous learning, diversity.
Maintain a calm and professional demeanor during emergency and non-emergency situations involving individuals and groups.
Written communication skills which support the ability to submit accurate documentation and effectively communicate.
Ability to work outside intermittently during an assigned shift.
Availability for work must be conducive to our responsibility for 24 hour coverage. This includes but is not limited to the ability to work at least 12 hour shifts, rotate days/nights, and provide coverage for weekends, holidays, and mandatory overtime.
Demonstrate acceptable ability to use relevant equipment including desktop computer, first aid kit, two way radios, motorized conveyance, and screening devices.
Comprehension and accurate application of California laws and regulations, as well as all local requirements.
Competitive candidates will have demonstrated ability to perform the following:
Stand inside or outside at a stationary post for the duration of assigned shift; run in response to calls for service; climb or descend multiple flights of stairs; climb or descend any type of ladder; perform CPR; assist with the lifting and carrying of persons; lift and carry a hand-held fire extinguisher (up to 40 pounds) and if necessary, use it to extinguish a fire; lift and carry assorted job related items including, but not limited to pylons, chains, traffic directional/control signs, and vehicle immobilization devices (up to 50 pounds); sit in an upright chair to monitor CCTV camera screens.
Perform a variety of security and safety related functions while involved in the safeguarding of employees, visitors and property.
Proven ability to interact effectively with the public.
Must be able to pass required city and state background checks.
Must have no felony convictions or convictions related to theft or untruthfulness
A vendor will be utilized to conduct a background check on all new hires upon acceptance of an offer of employment. Information collected in this application will be verified during the background check process.
